Summary Listening, Engaging, Advocating, 和 Developing to Create a Just, Equitable, Diverse, 包容校园

杰克逊维尔大学 has identified 和 developed 引导谈话: Listening, Engaging, Advocating, 和 Developing to Create a Just, Equitable, Diverse, 包容校园 as its five-year 品质提升计划 (QEP). The overarching goal of LEADing is to enhance student learning 和 life-long student success by integrating the concepts of justice, equity, diversity, inclusivity, 和归属感 throughout the undergraduate 学生的经验. We propose an integrated curricular 和 co-curricular plan whereby undergraduate students develop the skills to lead challenging conversations around social 和 cultural differences in their personal 和 professional lives.

QEP目标

The goals of the plan are to:

  1. Strengthen 杰克逊维尔大学’s undergraduate curriculum to deepen students’ appreciation for human diversity 和 exp和 their awareness of the struggles 和 circumstances of underrepresented or marginalized groups;
  2. Create co-curricular experiences that promote justice, equity, diversity, inclusivity, 和归属感 和 provide support for challenging yet constructive dialogue; 和
  3. Provide professional development opportunities for upper-level undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty, 和 staff to maximize their impact when they engage in belonging-related conversations 和 activities.

While selecting a QEP topic 和 developing 引导谈话, 的QEP Committee 旨在:

  1. Shape a representative inclusive process that valued input from a wide-range of campus constituencies including students, faculty, staff, alumni, 和 employers;
  2. Promote the mission, vision, 和 core values of 杰克逊维尔大学;
  3. Identify opportunities for improving student learning following a comprehensive survey analysis of institutional 和 student perceptions 和 attitudes;
  4. Complement or strengthen existing 杰克逊维尔大学 programs;
  5. Consider best practices within the relevant literature 和 at other institutions; 和
  6. Provide graduates with skills desired by employers 和 society at large.

衡量成功

Student learning outcomes tied directly to institutional priorities 和 applicable to all disciplines were developed to address justice, equity, diversity, inclusivity, 和归属感. In addition to the student learning outcomes, program outcomes were developed that aim to enhance curricular 和 co-curricular programming for students to engage in justice, equity, diversity, 和 inclusivity-themed learning 和 experiences, along with increasing faculty 和 staff support of these efforts.

Direct measures to assess these outcomes will include the HEIghten® Intercultural 能力 & Diversity Assessment 和 the Intercultural Knowledge 和 Competence VALUE 标题. Indirect measures will include the annual institutional campus climate survey, the National Survey of Student Engagement, 和 IDEA course evaluation surveys. 在内部 designed surveys will be used as indirect measures.

杰克逊维尔大学 will provide the financial, physical, 和 human resources to initiate, implement, 和 sustain LEADing. The University is committed to provide pilot-year investments 和 requisite resources over the five-year implementation of 的QEP.

The organizational structure of LEADing has been created to make reporting responsibilities 监管也很明确. Additionally, key LEADing personnel are in place.

As 的QEP progresses, 的QEP Steering Committee will administer 和 carefully analyze all budget-related expenses in collaboration with the Provost 和 the Chief Financial 官.

The project will proceed in accordance with a detailed timetable that establishes the implementation of various program elements, budgetary expenditures, 和 assessment plans over the course of the multi-year period.
